Glass at its finest-Blake Polcha

Did you know that the median yearly salary for a person who drops out of high school is $37,490? Well, not for Jon Schoppy. He is making double that answer some, you may ask yourself how. This is a true underdog story of someone who truly lives the American dream. Jon was 14 years old when his father died. He then proceeded to drop out to feed himself and his mother. The only place that would give him a job was a glass company named Hershocks. He started by sweeping floors and worked his way up for 30 years to achieve his current position..

Every morning at 7 am, Monday through Friday, Jon, a 6'3", 52-year-old bald man, walks into his office in the city of Harrisburg in a glass company named Hershocks. Every day it's the same attire: A bright neon polo and some denim pants, always sporting a nice belt and some snazzy shoes. He does not share an office with anyone; it's just him. He is the lead salesman at this company. 6 others work below him at this company. Hershocks is a glass company specializing in commercial glass installation. His office is a nice 20x14-foot office with a large L-shaped desk featuring three monitors, where he sends emails and takes calls. He also goes over many Bids for jobs and estimates sent to his office. He has a Nice large bookshelf, lots of green plants everywhere, two nice chairs, and a giant window to see Harrisburg.

Jon starts his day by driving 30 minutes to Hershocks, arriving promptly at 7 AM. He first checks his emails and his voicemail and responds accordingly. After that, he will go to visit the nearby jobsites and, on occasion, will go visit jobsites in other counties/states. When he gets back from job sites, he will go on his hour-long lunch break, which will be spent some days at the Broad Street market with his coworkers. Sometimes he packs lunch, eats for 30 minutes, and takes a quick 30-minute siesta. Once lunch has come to a close, he will attend a 45-minute meeting with other project managers to discuss their plans for the week. Then Jon will check his email once again to see if anyone requires his company's services. Finally, at the end of the day at 3:30, he will take out his trash and leave the building. More than likely, he will be heading to his son's high school sporting events.

Day to day, Jon always stays busy at work (other than his nap). Jon strives to do his best always, and his hard work pays off. Jon is the top salesman of Hershocks for 5 years in a row, competing with 10 other salesmen for the achievement. Jon always strives to be his best self every day and lift others around him with words of wisdom, compliments, or even a lighthearted joke here and there. Jon loves his job and what he does, and that all that matters.
